I’ll show you mine if you show me yours.

Today’s breakfast.

I want inside your life and I want to learn everything there is to know about you. That probably creeped you out, so I’ll just settle for knowing what you had for breakfast. It could be a bagel, a bowl of cornflakes or a leftover bowl of goulash. I don’t care. Just send in the pictures of a recent breakfast with a brief description and I’ll put it up. I know this is weird, but just play along and we can all learn a little bit about each other.

Here is what I had for breakfast today: This is a riff on a dish they served on the Market breakfast menu when I was there. It came with the henchman from New York and it stuck in my mind. First I made some croutons with the stale end of a loaf of bread that was laying around . Then I crisped up some guanciale, and added some onion, garlic, asparagus and chili. Back went the croutons to soak up some of the fat, and then two eggs went right in the middle of it all. A few seconds on the heat, a few seconds under the broiler, some pickled red onions and shaved pecorino, and done. Breakfast!

Did you know the word breakfast in a compound of the words break and fast, referring to the end of the fast you have been on since the last meal. Thanks Wikipedia.
