I Live In The Woods And I Just Made Granola
I also drive a station wagon.

I live on Paradise Valley Rd.
If someone was trying to kill me, it would take the police a long time to get to my place – at least twenty minutes. Assuming they get a call at all. It would most certainly be too late to stop the murderer. I am being dramatic, but it is definitely a far-cry from where I have been living the past eight years or so.

I can see the goats from where I sit.
I drove up to Squamish from Vancouver earlier this evening and am now alone in my cabin in the woods. I actually moved in a couple of weeks ago, but left right away to go to Toronto, and then spent the last week at my lover’s place in Vancouver. I won’t be seeing her that much these days, which is going to be hard.

Oats, hazelnuts, almonds, walnuts, dried cranberries, figs, coconut, crystallized ginger, coconut, honey, butter, cinnamon. Wanted some seeds in there…..next time.
I have been occupying myself the last few hours with tasks such as building a fire, making granola and drinking Scotch. I stopped for some groceries in town on the way up and found myself looking at the packaged granola in the cereal aisle. The more I looked at the boxes, the more fucked-off I got. “I’m not buying your shit”, I said to myself. I then went and spent twice as much on the ingredients to make it myself. The price-tag just kept going up the more nuts and dried-fruits that crossed my path.
I start at my new job in Whistler tomorrow. The place is bigger and busier than any place I’ve worked before – especially in the winter! – so it should be interesting. Game-plan: work hard, make good food, get paid, have fun. Cooking is so simple. Sometimes.
I hear it’s so cozy in the cabin and the firepit by the river… We’ll stop by one day with some nice red and whiskey. Take care!
I love it! I’m feeling very relaxed for you. And just so you know… It’s totally okay to live in the woods, make your own granola and drive a station wagon. I do ALL of those things, and most of my friends still talk to me.
What’s the rent like?
I’m very happy for you! Sounds Awesome. Maybe Ron & Ingela will let me tag along to visit… Best of Luck!
